✅What makes this event special
The Konkankada Rappelling Event is special because it offers an adrenaline-pumping experience on one of the most stunning cliff faces in Maharashtra. Konkankada, located in the Harishchandragad region, is famous for its overhanging concave cliff, which gives the sensation of hanging in mid-air while rappelling down.
What Makes Konkankada Rappelling Special?
Massive Drop & Thrill – The cliff has a vertical drop of about 1,800 feet, making it one of the highest natural rappelling spots in India.
Breathtaking Views – The panoramic view of the Sahyadri mountain ranges and the unique shape of Konkankada make it a visual treat.
Unique Overhang Experience – Unlike regular rappelling, where you descend along a rock face, Konkankada's overhanging nature makes you feel like you’re descending in mid-air.
Ideal for Adventure Lovers – Perfect for thrill-seekers, mountaineers, and nature lovers looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
A Test of Courage – The sheer height and exposure challenge even experienced rappellers, making it an unforgettable achievement.

🔹 What is Rappelling?
Rappelling, also known as abseiling, is a controlled descent down a rock face or vertical drop using a rope, harness, and specialized equipment. It is commonly used in rock climbing, mountaineering, and adventure sports to safely descend steep cliffs.
Use Proper Gear – Always wear a helmet, harness, gloves, and climbing shoes.
Check Your Equipment – Inspect ropes, carabiners, and harnesses for any damage before use.
Listen to the Instructor – Follow expert guidance and safety briefings carefully.
Use a Backup Safety System – Always have a belay device or safety knot as an extra precaution.
Maintain Three Points of Contact – Keep two hands and one foot or two feet and one hand in contact at all times.
Descend Smoothly & Gradually – Avoid sudden jerks to prevent losing control.
Communicate Clearly – Use signals or verbal cues to stay connected with your team.
✅ Do’s:
✔ Wear comfortable & appropriate clothing (no loose clothing that may get tangled).
✔ Keep your body posture upright and legs shoulder-width apart for stability.
✔ Maintain a firm but relaxed grip on the rope for better control.
✔ Double-check all knots and harness fittings before starting.
✔ Stay calm and focused—avoid panic if you slip; the safety rope will hold you.
✔ Trust your equipment and guides, especially if you're a beginner.
❌ Don’ts:
❌ Never rush while descending; keep a steady and controlled pace.
❌ Do not let go of the rope completely, as it controls your speed.
❌ Avoid overloading your gear—carry only essential items.
❌ Do not lean too far forward or backward, as it affects balance.
❌ Never ignore weather conditions—rappelling on a wet or windy day can be dangerous.
❌ Avoid loose rocks and be mindful of falling debris.
